Anushka Sharma turns producer

Actress Anushka Sharma, who has featured in films like "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi", "Band Baaja Baaraat" and "Jab Tak Hain Jaan", is now set to try her hands as a producer for her film, "NH10".

The actress, who will also play the lead role in the film, is co-producing it with production house Phantom.

"I’m thrilled to get a chance to do this so early on in my career. And I couldn’t have found a better project than 'NH10' to kick-start this new phase in my film journey," Anushka said in a statement.

The film will be directed by Navdeep Singh post his critically acclaimed debut “Manorama Six Feet Under”.

“NH10” is an action thriller about a road trip gone wrong.

Anushka, who recently worked with Phantom for her forthcoming project "Bombay Velvet", is looking forward to work with the production house again.

"This is my second film after 'Bombay Velvet' with Phantom, and it’s a blast working with them. It’s going to be super-exciting working together again on what promises to be an explosive film," said Anushka, who will also be seen with Aamir Khan in Rajkumar Hirani's "Peekay”.

The 25-year-old follows in the footsteps of actor Ranbir Kapoor who will be co-producing "Bombay Velvet".

Being shot this winter across the northern plains around Delhi, “NH 10” will release Sep 12 next year.

Hamsa dreams of art films

Hot Bengaluru Hudigi Hamsa Nandini shot to fame on silver screen by sizzling in special roles and item songs. After mesmerising in a short role in Rajamouli's Eega she never looked back. She did special songs opposite Prabhas, Pawan Kalyan and Nagarjuna in Mirchi, Attarintiki Daaredi and Bhai.

Hamsa whose real name is Poonam says she love her screen name suggesed by Vamsi.She says she is lucky to hear compliments that she looks stylish and glamorous in special songs. She says she would love to play lead roles in films as the recognition derived from them is totally different.

Hamsa says she is ready to do any role which prove her mettle as heroine. She says if story and character is good she is ready for art films also. She says she is ready to do stunts also.

Anything Salman does will help us: Aamir

Actor Aamir Khan enjoys a good relationship with his colleague and contemporary Salman Khan and said that latter's actions will always be beneficial for him.

Salman is planning to launch "Jai Ho" trailer somewhere close to the release of Aamir's "Dhoom 3", which is schedule to come out Dec 20.

Asked if this would affect his "Dhoom 3", Aamir said: "Salman is a dear friend and anything he does will only help us."

His last film "Talaash" didn't do well at the box office, but his "Ghajini" and "3 Idiots" were blockbusters.

Asked about his expectations from "Dhoom 3", a Yash Raj Films' venture, he said: "I am not looking at setting any records. What really is important for me is that the audience should like the film. It should be entertaining and satisfying for the audience. I don't get into box office figures."

Known as the marketing guru, he didn't reveal anything promotional plans for the film and said: "There is no strategy as such. Let's see."

Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, "Dhoom 3" also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra.

Prabhudheva's 'Action Jackson' for April release

Prabhudheva's "Action Jackson", which has Ajay Devgan and Sonakshi Sinha as the lead pair, will hit screens April 11 next year.

The film is currently being shot and the director is canning the third schedule which has a song sequence. A sprawling and lavish set has been constructed at a suburban studio here for the sequence, said a statement.

Produced by Gordhan Tanwani, the film also stars Yami Gautam and Kunaal Roy Kapur. There are plans to add another actress to the cast as well.

The film will be presented by Baba Films and its music has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya.

Vishal shed action hero avatar

Known for his action films such as "Sandakozhi" and "Thimiru", actor Vishal Krishna Reddy didn't hesitate to shed his image for Tamil drama "Pandiya Nadu", said the film's director Suseenthiran.

"Pandiya Nadu" is slated to release Saturday.

"Vishal is known as an action hero in the industry. To convince him to star in a rural drama wasn't easy, but he was really impressed with the script and he instantly agreed to do it. He even shed his action image to do justice to the role," Suseenthiran told.

"There are some action sequences, but they have been shot in such a way that audience will only get to see the character Vishal plays in the film. It was challenging to make Vishal do what he has done in the film," he added.

Vishal also turns producer with "Pandiya Nadu", which also features Lakshmi Menon, Vikranth, Bharathiraja and Soori.

How was it working with Vishal as a producer?

"He had told me that he decided to become producer overnight. When one of his films needed some financial shove, he donned the hat of a producer. He is someone who appreciates a good script, gives lot of freedom to the director to experiment. I had fun shooting with him," said Suseenthiran.

This Nandamuri Hero could never click although he has been making serious efforts to get noticed in the industry. His recent movie Om 3D has been a huge investment with Kalyan Ram itself producing it but the movie could not make an impact with the audience or at the box office.

And grapevine rumors say that Kalyan Ram is in talks with Puri to make a project work.

Abhishek Bachchan: Mard ko dard nahi hota

Actor Abhishek Bachchan has injured his left elbow, but says he does not have any pain.

He came for the trailer launch of "Dhoom 3" and when asked about his injury, he quoted a famous line from dad Amitabh's film and said: "I have torn my tendon in my elbow. I am absolutely fine. Mard ko dard nahi hota." 

The actor injured himself while working out Monday. But the 37-year-old has not taken any break from working gym sessions.

"Dhoom 3", directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra, also features Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Uday Chopra.

Bollywood’s khiladi, Akshay Kumar says he misses doing a love story.

“I haven’t done a love story in a long time. That’s something I would like to explore again. And also, I have wanted to do a horror film for a long time. I genuinely believe the Indian audience is ready for a big scale horror film,” he said.

Portraying super villain is a challenge

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan feels portraying a villain in Hindi films is easy but projecting a super villain is a daunting task.

“Krrish has been established as a superhero. The difficulty was how to make a super villain. We had to make sure the powers of super villain were more than that of superhero. It is all been very difficult. To make a villain is very easy in Hindi films but to make a super villain is very difficult,” he said. “To make a super villain was a creative call and not a commercial one. Now who will be in his gang, so we have mutants - one of it is Kaya (Kangna Ranaut),” he added.

Bollywood babe Kareena Kapoor Khan was honored in the House of Commons by an Asian ethnic weekly for her contribution to the film industry.

Leading NRI MP Rt Hon Keith Vaz, Chairman of Britain's Home Affairs Committee, presented a framed golden colored plaque to her. “UK has been one of my most favoured destinations. There has always been special relation between India and the UK and over the years the bond has become stronger,” she said at the event.

Bhai's Sister in Bommali’s movie

Bhai had a lot of hype pre-release and sadly it turned out to be fizz with little content that is worthy of any appreciation. Surprisingly the movie may have got some moolahs despite of poor reviews from all corners.

If you have seen the movie there is one pretty face you can recall other than Richa and that is of Zara Shah’s, who featured as Nagarjuna’s sister in the film. She seems getting attention although Bhai seems to have lost after two terrible debacles; Greekuveerudu and Bhai both bombing at BO.

Ok, that apart after Bahubali one other film that is garnering huge attention and speculation recently is Rudramadevi. This is being directed and produced by Gunasekhar and he is taking it as a prestigious project with Anushka in the main lead. News is that Zara Shah has bagged a role for herself in the magnum opus project.

The ‘Life is Beautiful’ girl will hopefully make use of this golden chance and pull off her role in Rudramadevi to open up more ops for her. Let us wish her all luck!

Why Hrithik Roshan wanted to do villain role in Krrish 3!

Bollywood superstar, Hrithik Roshan, has revealed that he actually wanted to don the role of villain in Krrish 3. He said his father Rakesh Roshan, who is also the director of the film, did not allow him to play the character because he had chosen Vivek Oberoi for the part.

“I wanted to play the role of villain in the film. He will be known as Kaal. But my father did not allow me to do that. I thought that only I could do justice to the character of ‘Kaal’ but Vivek proved me wrong. “After seeing Vivek`s conviction to the role, I feel my father took the right decision,” he said.

Nagarjuna baffles Reliance!

King Nagarjuna's recently released Bhai failed to live up to the expectations.The film didnot even get good first day collections which even many flop films do. Analysts are of the opinion that it will be difficult for Bhai to collect even half of its 40crs budget.

However unit members are coming out with their own reports that Bhai got record collections of 4.08crs on the first day which is a record in Nagarjuna's career. But trade analysts say the film collected over all 5 crs from the day of its release.

Another baffling point of Bhai is though Nagarjuna is the producer for the film, his share in the investment is very less. Most of the film is funded by Reliance Entertainments so Nag didnot suffer any losses. 

Infact Nag gained a lot as he received huge renumeration and ensured that MAA TV gets the satellite rights for lesser price. So Bhai makes big while Reliance plunges into losses.

Sanjay Dutt to return to jail

Convicted Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will return to Yerawada Central Jail here Wednesday at the end of his four-week-long medical parole, officials said here Tuesday.

The actor was released on a fortnight-long medical parole from the high-security prison Oct 1 where he is serving the remainder of his 42-month-long sentence.

Later, he sought and was granted another fortnight's extension which ends Wednesday. Now, he would be required to return to the jail by Wednesday evening, an official said.

Accordingly, this year, Dutt will spend the Diwali festival in the jail with other inmates.

Since his release on parole, there has been widespread speculation that he may be granted remission of sentence or a pardon.

However, last Friday, Maharashtra Home Minister R.R. Patil sought to scotch all such rumours and said he has not received any communication from the central government to this effect.

Besides, Patil pointed out that even the actor's family members, who include his sister and Congress MP Priya Dutt, have not made any such request.

The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has already expressed its strong opposition to any proposal to grant pardon to the actor as it could send wrong signal in society and encourage other convicts to seek pardon.

Dutt was sentenced to five years' jail for illegal possession of firearms from one of the consignments that landed ahead of the March 12, 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai.

Madhuri new face of Dabur Chyawanprash

Actress Madhuri Dixit has been signed as the brand ambassador of Dabur Chyawanprash, health care product from the House of Dabur.

"With its immunity strengthening properties, Dabur Chyawanprash protects my family from common day-to-day ailments," Madhuri, who has also judged dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa", said in a statement.
